What is therapeutic Yoga & Somatics? In my view, a Yoga class should cultivate the following:
My strongest influence is Scaravelli inspired Yoga.
The Scaravelli-inspired approach invites us to play with gravity, free the breath, and discover space within the body to move with greater ease and strength. By working with, rather than against, the natural forces of gravity, we allow the body to open more deeply and release habitual holding patterns that may cause discomfort or restriction. This gentle yet profound exploration supports us in moving more freely into Yoga postures, fostering a sense of curiosity and connection. Through this process, we embark on a journey of restoration and transformation, rediscovering the body’s innate capacity for balance, resilience, and freedom. What is Somatics?Somatics is an embodied approach to movement and awareness that invites us to reconnect with our bodies from the inside out. Rather than focusing solely on external alignment or performance, somatic practices prioritise inner felt experience, offering a way to explore what the body is communicating in the present moment.
In a therapeutic or trauma-informed context, Somatics supports nervous system regulation by creating a space for curiosity, self-compassion, and choice. It encourages a deep listening to the body’s sensations and signals, fostering a sense of safety and agency. Somatic movement helps to release tension, build resilience, and cultivate a more grounded and connected experience of being in your body. This gentle, mindful approach can be particularly supportive for those navigating stress, trauma, or disconnection, offering tools to rediscover ease and trust in your body’s wisdom. |

How people experience this kind of practice
Katrin’s yoga style suits my needs as I navigate the new realities of the pandemic. My body responded in ways it never had before. I found new openness and lightness in my practice without the usual pulling and stretching. |
Katrin’s approach is deceptively simple, yet the benefits are profound. It really shifted my personal view on Yoga. Working slow doesn't mean working less. |
